DETAILED PROGRAMME

  • Day 1: Visit of Boruca, Bocura is the indigenous village of the homonymous group. The Borucas are known for the celebration of the Taurus Festival (January-February) and of course their handicrafts. This group carves and paints balsa masks that are used in the Bullfighting ceremony. This festival, which is intended to be a historical representation, traces the tenacious struggle of the Boruca people against the European invader. After visiting the village and the museum, we offer you a craft tour with a local guide, then a typical meal of the Borucas. Departure for San Vito (1h20)
  • Day 2: San Vito: Visit of the city of San Vito, the biological station ‘las Cruces’ and the Botanical Garden Wilson. Discover the first botanical garden in Central America and its exuberant collection of plants. Located at 1200 meters above sea level and 10 kilometers from the border with Panama, in the heart of the La Amistad Biosphere Reserve, spend the day walking the paths of the botanical garden. Departure to Bioley, visit of Bioley (1h30), night in Bioley
  • Day 3: Departure for the Valle de Silencio trek. We enter La Amistad National Park through Altamira station. This 15 kilometer hike takes about 8 hours, we leave from 1330 meters above sea level to go to the mountain refuge of Valle del Silencio at 2230 meters above sea level. (Night in the mountain refuge ).
  • Day 4: Full day in the Valle del Silencio, departure for Tres Picos, a 2-hour hike to reach one of the most beautiful peaks in the Cordillera de Talamanca. Snack during the hike and dinner in the refuge.
  • Day 5: Descent from the mountain refuge Valle del Silencio to Altamira (6 to 8 hours of walking). Way back to Bioley. Night in Bioley.
  • Day 6: Coffee Tour Coffea ‘Diversa’ (2 hours). Recover from the Valle del Silencio trek with an original coffee tour and discover the largest collection of coffee plants in the world. End of the route.
