DETAILED PROGRAMME
Day 1: departure from San José for Santa Maria de Dota (1h30) and visit of its cooperative and its coffee tower. Discover the drying and storage facilities of one of the best coffees in the world. Then visit the area along the valley that rises to Copey. (night in Copey)
Day 2: Wake up at dawn for an observation tour of Quetzals then departure for the paths of the Lyok Ami reserve (45 min) very close to the Tapanti National Park, take a walk in the paths of the reserve to see the thousand-year-old oaks . Then departure for the Chirripo region (1h50) (night in San Gerardo de Rivas)
Day3: ascent of Mount Chirripo. Departure at dawn for a walk of about 6 hours to the mountain refuge of the Chirripo National Park. Pass a succession of ecosystems from the cloud forest to the Páramo. Climb the Cordillera de Talamanca at its highest point. Spend the night in the mountain hut.
Day 4: You will leave the refuge in the early morning for the summit of Chirripo at 3820 meters above sea level! Admire the sunrise then begin the descent (5h) towards the entrance of the National Park. End of circuit and departure to San José (3h40)
